    Welcome to Umfolozi College. Our college offers National Certificate (Vocational) and Diploma courses in a range of Business and Engineering fields at five main campuses across northern Kwa-Zulu Natal. In addition, eight skills campuses offer a variety of skills training in rural communities.
    The college also engages in co-operative and learnership programmes.
    This publication aims to provide prospective students with detailed information about courses and programmes currently on offer at our various campuses.
    Please study the contents carefully and discuss your options with Student Support Services or with any of our Senior Lecturers before making your final choices as these impact on your future study options and your career.

     

    What you need to know:
    • The availability of courses and subjects listed in this publication will depend on the number of students enrolled.
    • National Certificate (Vocational) programmes are offered on a full-time basis only. New NC (V) students are required to complete a placement assessment prior to registration.
    • N4 – N6 programmes are offered on a full-time and part-time basis only.
    • All prospective students are required to complete an application evaluation form as set by the specific Campus at which they wish to study.
    • The college offers a range of short courses which are flexible and can be offered according to company needs (e.g. languages, computer packages etc.) See the section on Skills Training (pg.5)
    for further details.
    • Through the Department of Education & Training’s TVET Colleges’ Bursary scheme, bursaries are available to qualifying NC (V) and full-time N-Level students. Enquiries can be made at Student
    Support Services at 035 797 4319 or at your nearest campus.

     

    TVET Colleges are able to offer the following qualifications:

    National Diploma
    A National Diploma (M+3/NQF5) Qualification is awarded to students who have completed their N4 – N6 in a specific field at an TVET College, and are able to provide proof that the required relevant in-service training period has been completed. The full duration including completion of studies and in-service training is usually 3
    years.

    National Certificate (Vocational)

    A range of vocationally based programmes introduced at TVET Colleges in 2007.

    Skills programmes

    Short duration skills based programmes offered by TVET Colleges, usually from rurally located skills campuses.

    Co-operative Training & Support

    This is training for young people on the fundamentals of establishing and managing a youth co-operative business. A co-operative in an autonomous association of persons united voluntarily to meet their common economic, social, and cultural needs and aspirations through a jointly-owned and democratically-controlled enterprise.     Learnerships

    A training programme that combines theory at a college or training centre with relevant practice on-the-job. It is a legally binding agreement between an employer, a learner (typically an existing employee of the company) and a training provider.     When to apply:

    After enrolling in an NC (V) programme. Applications forms will be distributed at induction.

    How to apply:
    • Enroll for your chosen NC (V) programme
    • Obtain an application form during induction.
    • Complete the form and return it to the campus. Ensure that you submit your form BEFORE THE CLOSING DATE and provide ALLrequested supporting documentation.
    • Qualifying applications will them be submitted to the Umfolozi College Bursary Committee for consideration. Bursaries will be awarded based on financial need and academic performance within the confines of the funds allocated to the College by the Department of Higher Education & Training.
    • IMPORTANT: Students enrolling for NC (V) programmes are required to pay 25% of their fees on registration. However, students should ensure that they have the means to pay the full study and
    related fees for their programme, according to college requirements and deadlines, and not rely on receiving a bursary as bursary funds are limited, and are awarded according to strict pre-determined
    criteria. Students who do not receive bursaries will be liable for their own outstanding student accounts.

    ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS Of Central Johannesburg TVET College

    To enroll for any of the NC(V) qualifications at NQF Level 2, a prospective student:

    • must have a Grade 9 pass or a higher qualification; OR
    • must have an NQF Level 1 qualification; OR
    • must have an approved bridging programme designed for the specific purpose to access NQF Level 2; OR
    •  go through a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) assessment to meet the basic requirements for access to NQF Level 2

    To enroll for NQF Level 3, a student must have completed a relevant NQF Level 2.

    PASS REQUIREMENTS

    • You must pass all SEVEN subjects to obtain the NC(V) qualification at a particular level and to progress to the next NQF Level.
    • The pass requirement for the four vocation subjects is 50% per subject
    • The pass requirement for the fundamental subjects is as follows:
      •  Life Orientation 40%
      • Language/Communication 40%
      • Maths/Maths Literacy 30%

    Applying for NSFAS financial assistance

    In the past new students would be required to apply directly at the TVET college. The process has changed now. If you are matriculating in 2016, you must apply directly to NSFAS using this Self-Service NSFAS app.

    Please note, if you are already studying at a TVET college and have been funded by NSFAS in 2016, you do not need to re-apply for funding in 2026.

    Lovedale Public TVET College is one the oldest colleges in the country, featuring strongly in the history of South African education.     NCV REGISTRATION AND PROGRESSION CRITERIA INFORMATION
    The following information is important to all current and future students who intend registering for the NC(V) courses in January . Registration will be open from 08h00 to 15h00 daily. Students must arrive as early as possible.

    1. When Can a Student Register?

    The registration of all NCV courses will start on 11 January at the following campuses:

    Appelsbosch Campus – Appelsbosch- Business Studies and Engineering Studies
    As Salaam Campus – Braemar- Business Studies and Engineering Studies
    Durban Campus -Jameson Crescent- General Studies and Engineering Studies
    Swinton Campus – Swinton Road, Mobeni-Business Studies and Engineering Studies
    Ubuhle Bogu Campus – KwaQiko – Business Studies
    Umbumbulu Campus – KwaMakhutha – Business Studies
    UmlaziBB Campus -BB Section- Business Studies

    2. When Will Classes Start?
    All NCV students must return for registration by 11 January 2026 as it is a Departmental directive that NCV classes MUST start on 18 January . This implies that the entire enrolment process should be completed on 15 January 2026.

    3 Registration Process For Returning Students

    3.1. All returning students should collect their 2015 examination results at their campuses on 11January 2026.
    3.2. All qualifying students undergo NSFAS application process.
    3.3. All students who meet the progression criteria (as indicated in paragraph 5 below) will register in their respective levels.

    4 Admission Criteria For New Enrolments- NCV

    4.1. Students who endeavour to enrol for NCV Level 2 Business and General Studies programs must have completed and passed Grade 10-11; and Grade 12 with Mathematics for the Information & Technology as well as Finance,Economics & Accounting programs.
    4.2. Students who endeavour to enrol for NCV Level 2- all Engineering Studies must have completed and passed a minimum of Grade 10-11Mathematics (not Mathematical Literacy).
    4.3. Students who endeavour to enrol for NCV Level 2 Electrical Construction – may, on applying for employment,be required to pass a Colour competency test.

    5. Progression Criteria
    5.1. Students who endeavour to enrol for NCV Level 3 must have already passed a minimum of 5 NCV Level 2 subjects.
    5.2. Students who endeavour to enrol for NCV Level 4 must have already passed all 7 Level 2 subjects as well as a minimum of 5 NCV Level 3 subjects.


    Coastal KZN TVET College has eight Campuses namely Durban, Umlazi V, Umlazi BB , Ubuhle Bogu, Umbumbulu, Swinton, Aa salaam and Appelsbosch campus.

    Coastal KZN TVET college is a merger of the former Durban Technical College, Swinton Road Technical College and Umlazi Technical College. It includes former Umbumbulu and Appelsbosch Colleges of Education. It is the largest College in KwaZulu-Natal, currently averaging about 15 000 full time equivalents and about 800 staff members.

    Coastal KZN TVET College catchment area is from Ozwathini to South of Durban and continues for a strip of about 80km towards the South Coast. It includes Maphumulo, Stanger, Ndwedwe, the Bluff area, Chatsworth, Lamontville, Umlazi, KwaMakhutha, Isipingo, Amanzimtoti, Illovo right down to Scottburgh, but due to the residence facilities we have students from all over the country. The Central Administration Office of the College is at KwaMakhutha, which is a semi-rural setting.

    This College is well known for catering for adult learners, unemployed and employed by local industry, out of school youth, project linked trainees ranging from learners with a low academic background to those who have had opportunities to enhance their educational level. The college is positioning itself to be able to take leadership in addressing socio-economic needs of the broader community, through innovation and delivery of responsive programmes.

    Details Of  Taletso TVET College Application 2026/2027

    Taletso FET College is the result of a merger between Lehurutshe College of Education, Mafikeng College and Lichtenburg College. The three campuses are situated in the Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality of the North West Province and are 80km from each other.

    Lehurutshe Campus

    The town of Lehurutshe is a township with no central business or industrial centres, The small businesses that are currently operating in the area are mostly one-man enterprises. These small enterprises do not create efficient job opportunities for the community and most of its inhabitants must find work in nearby towns.

    The campus was previously a college of education where technical and business studies educators were trained. The campus offers training opportunities to some of the very remote rural areas within theNgaka Modiri Molema District. The campus has hostel facilities that can accommodate up to 380 students.

    The Lehurutshe Campus and The Mafikeng Campus have been offering end-user computing to 400 learners at NQF Level 3. This is done in partnership with the municipalities, the ISETT-SETA andSPL Communications.

    Lichtenburg Campus

    The Lichtenburg Campus is located 68km from Mahikeng and it is the only campus in the North West Province that offers training in primary agriculture. It has also been offering programmes and learnerships in agriculture in the surrounding rural areas.Taletso FET College has a student representative council which comprises of four representatives from each campus. Every campus has different student activities such as soccer, netball, chess, ballroom dancing and athletics.

    There are also student resource centres where the students can do research, complete assignments and study.Lichtenburg, as a town, has a large potential for growth. There are two large cement factories (Lafarge and Holcim). Property development is on the increase. Some of the developments in the pipeline include a diamond mine and two large shopping centres.

    These developments have the potential increase business and finance as well as trade and wholesale activities.

    Mafikeng Campus

    Mafikeng Campus is situated in Mahikeng, which is the capital of the North West Province. The town is surrounded by rural villages governed by the tribal system of authority. Game farming, guesthouses and vegetable farming are typical economic activities in the area.

    The Mafikeng Campus was formerly known as the Mmabatho Manpower Centre. There are currently 1609 students enrolled at the campus. The campus offers training in nine workshops including a carpentry workshop.
