Short Course for Planning and Conducting Assessment of Learning Outcomes (71005)Purpose
This assessor course will provide people who assess or intend to assess
candidates against unit standards and/or qualifications with the necessary expertise.
- Any person involved in assessment of learning outcomes in education and training settings or in the workplace;
- Teachers in the new career path leading to senior teacher and learning area specialist positions where they have to assess . beginning teachers, student teachers, Learnership teachers and their peers;
- Senior teachers involved with Learnership student teachers; and
- Departmental officials involved in assessment of teachers as part of whole school evaluations.

Senior Certificate or an equivalent NQF level 4 qualification

Tuition method
UNISA open distance learning combined with experiential workplace learning, comprehensive course notes, tutorial letters and a prescribed text book – course material is complemented by an optional one day experiential seminar
Kind of assessment
Note:
Formative assessment and examination admission will comply with UNISA’s formative assessment rules and policies
Formative assessment:
Theoretical component:
Participants must complete and pass at least one compulsory written assignment. The assignment will involve workplace-based exercises, projects and self-assessment.
Practical component:
Participants must build, and submit for assessment, a workplace-based portfolio of evidence of competence in the relevant outcomes of assessing learning outcomes
Summative assessment:
Examination and supplementary examination involves that unsuccessful students will be allowed to redo and resubmit a portfolio of evidence for assessment
