    Unsuccessful applicants, may appeal to the College of Graduate Studies: Postgraduate Administration Department, and will be required to provide a motivation for special admission. The motivation must incorporate the following:
    – academic motivation offering evidence of your ability to study a postgraduate qualification,
    – work experience relevant to the qualification and courses completed since graduating with the Bachelor’s degree or Advanced Diploma.
    These appeals will only be considered if the enrolment target of the particular qualification has not been met and/or additional enrolment spaces are available.

    WITS Admission Requirement

    The minimum Matric requirements (National Senior Certificate) for admission to the Civil and Environmental Engineering undergraduate programme is 36 points. For non NSC matriculants – minimum of 60% at the Higher Grade obtained for Mathematics, Physical Science and English.

    Compliance with the minimum requirements does not guarantee automatic admission.

    A Higher Certificate in Accounting Sciences, or its equivalent, on condition that pre- or co-requisites or their equivalents have been met, and any NQF level 6 Diploma/NQF level 7 Degree.
    Applicants may be required to register for one or two additional modules (depending on co-requisites) concurrently with the modules in the syllabi.

    • You must accept or decline Unisa’s offer within the prescribed period of time.
    • If you accept Unisa’s offer, you must register for the period for which you have been granted admission (ie semester 1 or semester 2). Should you not register for the relevant semester of study, you will need to re-apply for admission during the next application period.

    Unisa has an agreement with various Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges to offer classes in a selected number of qualifications. These classes have proved to generally improve the throughput rate of students who enrol for them.

    •  NSFAS applications for 2026 will open on the 1st of August 2016 (closing date is the 30th of November 2016). Please  note that there will be two application cycles:
      • 1st Cycle: 1st of August to the 30th November 2016: Students entering university for the first time in 2026 including 2016 grade 12 learners can apply;
      • 2nd Cycle: 1st of September to the 30th November 2016: All university students who were not funded by NSFAS in 2016 can apply.
    • NSFAS applications for 2026 are strictly online at my.nsfas.org.za
    • Students who were not funded in 2016 must apply online and upload the applicable documentation, regardless of any previous applications.
    •  Students must register on the NSFAS website to confirm if they need to apply for 2026 or not. This can be done from the  1st of September 2016 at my.nsfas.org.za
    • Funding for 2026 will still be dependent on academic results. Not having to apply for 2026 because you were funded in 2016 does not guarantee funding for 2026.
    • Additional facilities will be provided to assist students with online applications for those without access.
    • Facilities will be available on APB from the 1st of August 2016.
    • Prospective students that need to make use of the facilities are requested to ensure that they bring all the necessary documentation to apply. Access to the campus will only be granted on presentation of a valid ID.
    • Parents / guardians that accompany prospective students will also be requested to present a valid ID to get access to the campus.
    • All applicants must have a cell phone on hand in order to receive the ONE TIME PIN.
    • Unfortunately parking facilities will not be available on campus.
