2026 Durban University of Technology Online Application Form

Durban University of Technology (DUT) encourage prospective students to apply online through the Central Application Office, or CAO.

Online application deadline is 31 October 2016.

Institution: Durban University of Technology (DUT)

Prospective DUT students should apply through the Central Application Office, or CAO. A matric pupil need only fill out the CAO application form and select which tertiary education institutes they want to apply to. The CAO then distributes their application and later lets the pupil know which institutions accepted him or her. Applications through the CAO open on 01 March 2016 and close on 31 October 2016. Pupils can apply online and find more information by clicking here!

    How to apply?

To help you get the most out of the information provided, here are a few key points you should bear in mind:

    1. Identify the course you wish to study. Programmes offered can be found in the Department Handbooks.
    2. The minimum entrance requirements for admission to the DUT for a South African applicant is a Senior Certificate or a recognized equivalent qualification. Over and above the minimum entrance requirements, each department also sets specific entrance requirements.
    3. With effect from 1 January 2009 the following are the entrance requirements :
      • a National Senior Certificate (NSC) as certified by Umalusi Council for Quality Assurance in General and Further Education and Training provided that a minimum of 4 recognised NSC 20-credit subjects must be passed.
      • These four subjects must:
        • include English with an achievement rating of 3 or better;
        • not exceed 2 official languages; and
        • have an achievement rating of 3 or better, in accordance with the NSC levels of achievement below:
    4. International applicants are required to check the International Brochure for detailed information on the admission process.
    5. Apply online at the Central Applications Office (CAO). (A prospective student who wishes to study at the DUT must apply via the CAO.)

South Africans learners wishing to apply online will need a working email address and an ID number. Foreign learners wishing to apply will need to have their passport number.

    Application Fees:

Applicants are required to pay an application fee. There is an accompanying application fee of R200.00 for on time applications and R400.00 for late applications.

For more information, please visit DUT’s Fees booklet here.

    Submitting of Results and Documents:

School learners must ensure that all examination results from Grade 11 until September of Grade 12 are submitted. Failure to do such may result in delays within the student’s application process. You might find that you applied early in Grade 12 and thus only sent in your final Grade 11 results. If this is true, as the year progresses and you receive more results keep sending them through to DUT, that way they will have all your results by the time finals come around.

Transferring students should too ensure that all transcripts and academic records are submitted as early as possible as well as that a final transcript of current studies being undertaken reaches the Admissions Office as soon as possible after receipt.

Once you have applied, keep a look out for your acceptance and/or provisional acceptance letter. You are encouraged to monitor your application status at all times, and can do so here.

    Admission Criteria and Information
    General Admissions Criteria
The minimum admission requirement for Bachelor`s degree studies is a National Senior Certificate (NSC) with an achievement rating of 4 (adequate achievement, 50-59%) or higher in at least four subjects chosen from the 20-credit NSC subjects (known as the `designated subject list’).
    These are:

    Accounting
    Agricultural Sciences
    Business Studies
    Dramatic Arts
    Economics
    Engineering
    Graphics and Design
    Geography
    History
    Consumer Studies
    Information Technology
Language (one language of learning and teaching at a higher education institution and two other recognised language subjects)
    Life Science
    Mathematics
    Mathematical Literacy
    Music
    Physical Sciences
    Religion Studies
    Visual Arts

    UWC’s Points System
For admission to degree and diploma programmes, UWC uses a weighted system for calculating points. In order to be admitted to degree studies the candidate should have attained the required points score as determined per programme. (See specific courses.)
    &nbsp
In addition to the general criteria for admission to university mentioned above, additional programme specific criteria must be met to qualify for admission to particular study programmes. These are detailed in the faculty chapters.

*All applicants will be required to write the National Benchmark Test (NBT). This test serves as a placement measure and assists faculties in determining the required academic support.

    Alternate Admission Requirements for 2016
Applicants who do not meet the admissions requirements of the university may still be admitted to studies. The Senate of the universities have the right to admit students using other criteria. This is a way of meeting the needs of two other groups of people: those who have done well in their exams, but whose subject choices prevent them from qualifying for university, and those who have left school some time ago and have worked at other things, and who can show that they are ready for university studies.
    Senate Discretionary Admissions

The university Senate may admit students without an endorsement or matric exemption if it considers them suitably qualified. They are admitted with a conditional exemption only after they have successfully completed a selection process which may include a personal interview, tests of written and oral communication and numeracy, and other means of determining ability. Students in this category are then given additional support. After a successful first year, a full exemption is awarded and the student then continues with studies.

    Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
This is the formal acknowledgement of the knowledge and capabilities people have acquired as a result of prior learning – through formal and informal means including study, work or life experience. Contact the Division of Lifelong Learning for more information.

    Foundational Support Programmes
In some cases students will be admitted to the university only if they enrol for the foundation programmes. The support offered in these programmes consists of a lighter course load and intensive assistance in helping students gain the skills needed for successful university study. Foundational programmes offered are: Humanities, for students in the Arts and Law faculties; Commerce, for students in the Economic and Management Sciences Faculty; programmes for students in the Science Faculty; some programmes in the Community and Health Sciences Faculty and the Education Faculty.

Who to Contact to Study at UWC

The Student Enrolment Management Unit (SEMU) is your first port of call when you want information about studying at UWC. The SEMU staff will ensure that you get all the information you need: information about UWC’s admission requirements, the many fields of study that are on offer, bursaries, financial aid, loans – and the differences between them, residential facilities and the many sports and cultural opportunities that are available to UWC students. You are welcome to mail us, give us a call or visit our offices. We will refer you to a specific faculty or department should it be necessary.

SEMU regularly addresses Grade 11 and 12 learners about studying at UWC. To have us visit your school, simply contact the SEMU office.
SEMU offers free career guidance using the PACE self-exploratory computer-based questionnaire. The completion of the questionnaire is followed by a counselling session with a skilled career counsellor. This is a lovely opportunity for a Grade 11 or 12 learner to speak with a talented educator about future career decisions.

We assist students with their hard copy or online applications to UWC, making sure that their forms are completed correctly, as required.
Finally, SEMU conducts admissions tests for prospective students who don`t meet the UWC entrance requirement. For more information about the admissions tests visit our website.

  • SACAP Fees 2026

    SACAP Fees

Please find below the following information to assist you with the financial and administration side of your SACAP experience:

    Payment terms

SACAP offers three different payment terms:

    1. Fees paid upfront for the year (in the case of cash payments a 5% discount may be applied if payment is made two weeks before term commences), or
    2. Fees paid upfront for the term (payable before the commencement of term), or
    3. Deposit and monthly debit order. These amounts are detailed on your proforma invoice. The deposit must be paid and completed debited order handed into Admissions before the commencement of term.

Unfortunately, we do not accept monthly EFT or Stop order payment arrangements. If you do not wish to pay upfront, you will need to sign a debit order form.

International Students must pay upfront for the term or year as debit orders are not a permitted payment option. Additionally, should a refund be due, the refund can only be made to a South African bank account as refunds cannot be made to international accounts.

    Annual Registration Fee

Please note that once student has been accepted, the annual registration fee is due and payable in full and is not refundable. A registration fee is charged on an annual basis, and thus will be payable once again for a student’s second year of studies until they have completed their qualification.

    Application Fee

An application fee is charged on application and is not refundable whether the application is successful or unsuccessful

The fees will differ according to your qualification and mode of study. SACAP is a private higher institution as such do not receive any funding from the government. The total of your fees will depend on whether you are a full-time or part time student. Fees also differ for students studying on campus versus online.

For a full breakdown of our fee structure please contact: info@sacap.edu.za or call 021 671 7692 (Cape Town & Online students) or 011 447 4939 (Johannesburg Campus).

    Withdrawal Policy

“Withdrawal” refers to the termination of a student’s enrolment. Any SACAP student who wishes to permanently discontinue their studies with the College must complete a Withdrawal of Study Form and submit it to Student Services for processing.

    Refund of Fees:

    • Please note that the full registration fee is non-refundable.
    • Module fees will be refunded at the rate of 100% for module(s) not commenced if written notification is received prior to the close of registration.
    • Withdrawal within one (1) week of the module’s commencement: 75% of the full module fee will be refunded.
    • Withdrawal within two (2) weeks of the module’s commencement: 50% of the full module fee will be refunded.
    • Withdrawal within three (3) weeks of the module’s commencement: 25% of the full module fee will be refunded.
    • Withdrawal requested in over three weeks of the module’s commencement will be liable for the full module fee, i.e. no refund will be granted, unless mitigating circumstances warrant full refund.

All requests for withdrawals, deferrals and extensions must be directed to Student Services for review at the Academic Review Meeting (ARM). In the case where one cannot wait for the ARM decision, the Managing Director and Academic Dean will make an informed and final decision, e.g.: in the instance of death, bereavement, or severe illness.

    Extension of Study Policy

For the purpose of this policy, “extension of study” refers to a student’s request for pause or break in their studies during the course of their qualification, e.g. a term. A maximum of one academic year could be granted based on the student’s motivation and personal circumstances. Student registration fees are not waived in the case of an extension of study and are still payable in full. The following procedure is to be followed when applying for an extension of study:

    • A student requiring an extension of study is to complete an Extension of Study Request Form providing motivation for the request.
    • The completed Extension of Study Request form is to be submitted to the Student Administrator’s Office for review at the Student Review Meeting (SRM).
    • Based on the request the Student Administrator will process the extension of study.

A student’s termly registration fee will still be due and payable.

    • A completed Extension of Study Request form submitted prior to the close of registration: 100% of the full module fee will be credited.
    • A completed Extension of Study Request form submitted within one week of the module’s commencement: 75% of the full module fee will be credited.
    • A completed Extension of Study Request form submitted within two weeks of the module’s commencement: 50% of the full module fee will be credited.
    • A completed Extension of Study Request form submitted within three weeks of the module’s commencement: 25% of the full module fee will be credited.
    • A completed Extension of Study Request form submitted over three weeks of the module’s commencement will result in the full module fee being due and payable, i.e. no credit will be granted, unless mitigating circumstances approved by the SRM, warrant full credit.
    • Please note that refunds are only made at the end of the month.

    Deferral Policy

For the purpose of this policy, “deferral” refers to the postponement of study in the module in which a student has already registered/enrolled. Within this policy, module fees are NOT REFUNDED but may be credited for future learning. Please note: Student registration fees are not waived in the case of a deferral and are still payable in full.

    • A student requesting to defer a module is to complete a Deferral Request Form.
    • The completed Deferral Request Form is to be submitted to the Student Administrator’s Office for review at the Student Review Meeting (SRM) for a final decision. Deferrals are granted on a case by case basis and ratified through the SRM.
    • Students will not be penalised for their deferrals except where the reasons for deferral are deemed unreasonable. In these instances, students who decide to unreasonably withdraw will be held liable for any outstanding fees.
    • Fees for modules already paid will be credited to the next module or trimester’s studies.
    • The maximum period of deferral is 1 trimester – if a student has not resumed contact with the College within this period, the credit will automatically be withdrawn.
    • A deferral will not be granted if the student has attended 6 or more classes of a module, unless serious mitigating circumstances apply.

Deferred module(s) will be removed off MySACAP

    Deferral Credit of Fees

    • Please note that the registration fee is non-refundable.
    • A completed Deferral Request Form submitted prior to the close of registration: 100% of the full module fee will be credited.

    • A completed Deferral Request Form submitted within two weeks of the module’s
    • commencement: 50% of the full module fee will be credited.
    • A completed Deferral Request Form submitted within three weeks of the module’s
    • commencement: 25% of the full module fee will be credited.
    • A request for deferral after three weeks is considered to be an incomplete module and no credit will be granted unless mitigating circumstances warrant it, approved by the SRM.
    • Please note that refunds are only made at the end of the month.
