Post-basic specialist programmes

Registered nurses (RNs) and enrolled nurses (ENs) can further their careers by specialising in post-basic fields of healthcare by means of in-service certificate programmes or post-basic diploma programmes.

In-service certificate programmes provides the minimum skills for safe practise in a specialised unit. Post-basic diploma programmes are aimed at developing advanced intellectual and clinical competence in selected fields of interest, qualifying those who successfully complete a programme to work as a leader, consultant, educator or specialist practitioner in providing evidence-based care to patients, together with other team members, within the scope of practice.

Netcare Education’s holistic and integrated approach to education and training combines theory with workplace based experiential learning in hospitals. Integrated training is provided in applied anatomy and physiology, disease entities, applied pharmacology, nursing diagnosis, and treatment of patients, with additional components covering research, administration, teaching and applied nursing dynamics.
