    All our courses are offered on a full-time basis. Our admission is based on an entrance exam, which tests the students level of understanding according to the course that the student is applying for entrance into.

    a. 65% pass mark in the entry exam
    b. Must be a full-time learner (if it is part-time, permission to study from the place of work is required)

    Entry Requirements

    The Faculty of Health Sciences does not calculate an APS score. Only five subjects are used to derive a matriculation score, which is calculated according to the percentage obtained NOT symbols. These are English, Maths, Physical Science/Life Sciences and the best two other subjects.

    The National Senior Certificate (NSC) is the current school-leaving qualification. It is based on the current curriculum for Grades 10 to 12. In the year of your matriculation, this is the school leaving certificate you will receive if you pass your exams.

    The minimum entry requirements are:

    • English Home or First Additional Language – Level 4 (50%)
    • Mathematics – Level 4 (50%)
      Life Science and/or Physical Science – Level 4 (50%)

    How to apply

    Planning a successful career at DUT doesn’t have to be a vague dream. We help prospective students make it a reality.

    We hope that the information provided will enable you to make an informed decision about applying to DUT. To help you get the most out of the information provided, here are a few key points you should bear in mind:

    1. Identify the course you wish to study. Programmes offered can be found in the Department Handbooks.
    2. The minimum entrance requirements for admission to the DUT for a South African applicant is a Senior Certificate or a recognized equivalent qualification. Over and above the minimum entrance requirements, each department also sets specific entrance requirements.
    3. With effect from 1 January 2009 the following are the entrance requirements :
      • a National Senior Certificate (NSC) as certified by Umalusi Council for Quality Assurance in General and Further Education and Training provided that a minimum of 4 recognised NSC 20-credit subjects must be passed.
      • These four subjects must:
        • include English with an achievement rating of 3 or better;
        • not exceed 2 official languages; and
        • have an achievement rating of 3 or better, in accordance with the NSC levels of achievement below:
    4. International applicants are required to check the International Brochure for detailed information on the admission process.
    5. Apply online at the Central Applications Office (CAO). (A prospective student who wishes to study at the DUT must apply via the CAO.)

    Please complete the CAO application form, and attach certified copies of your identity document and Grade 12 certificate (or final Grade 11, June/ Trial Grade 12 report if you have not written your final examination). The application form must reach the CAO office before the closing date of 31 October. Please refer to specific programmes for relevant closing dates, as some programmes close earlier than 31 October. Include the appropriate application fee of R220 (non-refundable) when submitting your application form. Make sure that your application AND fee reach the CAO before the closing date. Submission of a completed application form does not imply that you have been accepted as a student, or that you may register.     Online Registration

    For those students who do not have access to a computer at home you will have to register online at a computer laboratory at the University. You will need to consult the Registration timetable which is available on this website for the exact times, dates and venues.

    In order to register online, First Time Entering Students will need to have:

    • paid the minimum fee installment due at registration
    • submitted the required documentation to Student Admissions
    • received notification of a firm offer from Student Admissions based on their final results
    • complied with the relevant sections here under which will allow them to register.

    In order to register online, Returning Students will need to have:

    • settled any arrears fees
    • paid the minimum fee installment due at registration
    • fulfilled the requirements for promotion to the next level of study in the relevant programme
    • submitted all outstanding documentation
    • complied with the relevant sections hereunder which will allow them to register.

    YOU WILL NEED, PRIOR TO REGISTRATION, TO ENSURE THAT YOU HAVE PAID THE MINIMUM DEPOSIT (AT LEAST FIVE WORKING DAYS) AND YOUR FEES ARE UP-TO-DATE IN ORDER TO REGISTER ON THE WEB. If you do not do this your registration will automatically be blocked. Please see the Registration Timetable which is available on this website for the exact date and time for your Programme (You may also register on the web from home via the DUT website and the iEnabler link.)

    If you do not register at the specified date and time you will register during the late registration period and will be charged the late registration fee.

    Outstanding Documentation Affecting Registration
    Even if you are a returning student you need the following documentation to register:

    1. Any outstanding original documents (eg Senior Certificate not Statement of Results), Identity Document, Study Permit, etc) must be submitted to the Faculty Office the week before you register. Your Statement of Results is temporary, so, if you previously submitted your Statement of Results to us you will now need to collect your Senior Certificate from school and submit it in order to register.
    2. No student will be re-registered at registration, without the enclosed Indemnity and Surety forms being returned, completely filled out and all the necessary documentation attached. Please ensure that the form is signed and stamped by a Commissioner of Oaths as you will need this form to register.

    Registration Costs
    Minimum First Installment on Registration
    Non-Residence Students: Annual: R3 690-00 Semester: R2 260-00

    Residence Students: Annual: R7 830-00 Semester: R4 530-00 (includes tuition and residence) In the event of the fees costing less than the first installment requested by the University, the lesser amount will be payable on registration.

    NSFAS Students are required to pay their family contribution, if any, on registration as their first installment. If the family contribution exceeds the above mentioned amounts, the difference must be paid according to the DUT’s fee installment plan. The installment plan is specified in the Fee Booklet which will be available on the DUT Website. In the event of the fees costing less than the first installment requested by the University, the lesser amount will be payable on registration.

    Payment of Fees: To avoid the complications, payment must be made at least five working days before registration through the bank using the M65 Deposit Slip (available on the DUT Website) and using your student number as reference. Failure to ensure that all relevant payments have been made will result in your registration being blocked. Proof of payment must be brought to Web Registration. Should you pay your fees in full you are eligible for a 5% discount.

    ALL Masters and Doctoral Students MUST register each year.

    Admission Requirements for first entering students

    Application process:
    Step 1: Download application form from our website or apply online click here 
    Step 2: Your academic application form must be accompanied by an application fee which is R250-00 for South African students and R380-00 for International students.
    Step 3: Once you have submitted your application form, please wait for 4 weeks before checking on your application status.

     Application closing date: 27 September (Both SA and International students)

    *Note: make sure that you meet or exceed the admission requirements as set out on the prospectus. Only Bachelor Certificate holders are eligible to apply for admission.

    1.1 National Senior Certificate (NSC) with Bachelor exemption

    Prospective students, with an NSC, who wish to gain entry to any undergraduate programme at the University of Limpopo, should comply with the following:

    • Life Orientation with an achievement level of at least three (3).
    • Aligned with the language policy of the university, English as a language of learning and teaching with an achievement level of at least three (3).
    • The required minimum levels of achievement in specific subjects as stipulated in the Calendars of each Faculty, provided that:
      • Four 20-credit subjects were achieved with a minimum NSC achievement level of four (4) for degree programmes and
      • Four 20-credit subjects were achieved with a minimum NSC achievement level of three (3) for diploma programmes.
    • The required Admission Point Score (APS) as stipulated in the Calendars of each Faculty.

    Meeting the minimum APS for a particular programme does not, however, guarantee admission.

    1.2 Matriculation Certificate (prior 2008)

    • Students, who successfully completed Grade 12 before 2008, can apply for admission to the University with the normal Grade 12 Senior Certificate with full university exemption by converting their grade symbols to an APS. 

    1.3 National Certificate (Vocational)

    • Students who have successfully completed a National Certificate Vocational NC(V) Level 4 qualification will require the following and will be subject to Faculty Admission Specifications and Placement Tests:
    • NC(V) level 4 certificate with 3 fundamental subjects 60% (Life Orientation included) and 4 relevant vocational subjects at 70% for degree programmes.
    • NC(V) level 4 certificate with 3 fundamental subjects 50% (Life Orientation included) and 3 compulsory vocational subjects at 60% for diploma programmes.

    1.4   The Admission Point Score (APS) system

    The system is a simple calculation, using your NSC or Grade 12 university exemption results, which can be done by any prospective student to determine if he/she meets the minimum requirements to gain entry into:

    • The University of Limpopo

             and

    • A specific programme of choice offered by a Faculty within the University.

    Meeting the minimum APS for a particular programme does not, however, guarantee admission.

    The calculation is done by the addition of the achievement levels in six (6) recognised 20 credit subjects as stipulated by specific requirements of the Faculties. Achievement levels are as follows (Note Life Orientation is not used in the APS calculation):

    3.  Placement Test

    The University of Limpopo will conduct National Benchmarking Tests for prospective students.   The results of the test will be used for research in terms of student profiles and for allocation of appropriate support.

    4.  Extended Curriculum Programmes (ECP)

    The extended curriculum programmes offered at the University are linked to the corresponding approved regular undergraduate degree programmes, but allow students an additional year to achieve the learning outcomes.     Entry Requirements

    The Faculty of Health Sciences does not calculate an APS score. Only five subjects are used to derive a matriculation score, which is calculated according to the percentage obtained NOT symbols. These are English, Maths, Physical Science/Life Sciences and the best two other subjects.

    The National Senior Certificate (NSC) is the current school-leaving qualification. It is based on the current curriculum for Grades 10 to 12. In the year of your matriculation, this is the school leaving certificate you will receive if you pass your exams.

    The minimum entry requirements are:

    • English Home or First Additional Language – Level 4 (50%)
    • Mathematics – Level 4 (50%)
      Life Science and/or Physical Science – Level 4 (50%)

    Your application

    • You may apply for three programmes (degrees).
    • Applications to Wits must enclose a non-refundable application fee of R100 (for international applicants, R700).

    • If you have already matriculated, attach a copy of your matric certificate.

    Nicole Nurses Training School (PTY) Ltd was founded in March 1998 by a professional nurse with passion to share nursing by developing other people’s skills, she trained and worked ten (10) years as a nurse at Ga-rankuwa Hospital which is now called Dr George Mukhari. Nicole is accredited by the South African Nursing Council( SANC).

    The vision spread because of the willingness to develop and fight poverty in the disadvantaged rural areas of South Africa, as an active community developer with an excellent business mind she was also involved in several community development projects in Soshanguwe north of Pretoria, hence the school was developed in Pretoria. The school caters for all disadvantaged communities around the Soshanguwe area.

    Chris Hani Baragwanath Nursing College Application 2026/2027

    This modern facebrick nursing college was opened in 1982 and is completely autonomous.

    Student Capacity

    The college is capable of handling about 1’500 students per annum. However, due to financial constraints, only around 100 new nursing students are allowed on intake per year, which had reduced the number of trainees to approximately 800 annually.

    Facilities available:

    • A library and a study area specifically designed for students who wish to view audio-visual programmes individually
    • An audio-visual department equipped with basic audio-visual equipment, for the enhancement of learning and teaching
    • An auditorium with a capacity for over 300 people, which is utilised by both college and hospital staff
    • Computers for students

    University Association

    In 1985 an agreement was signed between the University of the Witwatersrand, and the department of Hospital Services. This provided for the university to supervise matters pertaining to academic standards in the training of nurses. At present the four year basic course is offered within the framework of this association.

    This agreement also set up the structure for control of the college activities by two bodies:

    • The College Council
    • The College Senate

    The College Council, which includes members of the public, deals with aspects like budgeting, physical facilities, posts, disciplinary matters and service conditions. The College Senate is concerned with academic matters.
