    Thekwini TVET College has six campuses namely ASHERVILLE CAMPUS, CATO MANOR CAMPUS, CENTEC CAMPUS, MELBOURNE CAMPUS, SPRINGFIELD CAMPUS and UMBILO CAMPUS.

    Thekwini TVET College has a strong commitment to nation building and lead the province in terms of their outreach programs and  partnerships. The College is one of the first Colleges to pilot Learnerships in KZN and  Skills Unit involved in extensive training for SETAs and industry. Cato Manor Technical College, Durban Central Technical College and LC Johnson Technical College merged together to form Thekwini College, an accredited Public Further Education and Training Institution as per KZN GG No. 117 2002 published on 11 April 2002.  As a public, multi-purpose, nationally recognized provider, the College is managed and administered in accordance with regulations stipulated by the FETC Act, 2006 and by national education policy as determined by the Minister of Education.

    Their vision is to become a centre of excellence offering accredited, high quality cutting-edge technology training through multi-site campuses in collaboration with local, provincial, national and international partners.  Service provision is being tailored to meet the demands of the labour market and in particular to access Learnerships and NQF accredited skills training.  Strategic partnerships to access further education and training opportunities are being established with other TVET Providers, HE institutions, organized labour, the community, relevant government departments and non-governmental organizations, business and industry, SMME’s and SETAs.

    Ekurhuleni West (TVET) College (EWC) is a Technical and Vocational Education and Training College that introduced the National Certificate (Vocational) NC(V) in 2007, introduced Level 3 in 2008 and NC(V) NQF Level 4 in 2009.

    The following NC(V) programmes are offered at EWC

    Finance, Economics and Accounting; Office Administration; Marketing; Management; Tourism, Hospitality; Transport and Logistics; Engineering and Related Design; Electrical Infrastructure Construction; Civil Engineering and Building Construction; Information Technology; Computer Science; Mechatronics, and Education and Development.

    The Corporate Centre of EWC is situated at Germiston Campus, cnr. Driehoek and Sol Roads, Germiston.

    EWC comprises of 6 Campuses: Alberton, Boksburg, Germiston, Kathorus, Kempton and Tembisa.

    These campuses see it as a challenge to also address life-long learning and developmental needs of individuals, organizations and economic sectors. EWC is gearing itself to become more responsive, effective, efficient as well as accountable to its clients and stakeholders and more prepared to meet training demands.

    Registration, enrolment procedure

    Campuses can be contacted for registration dates, fees and commencement of classes.

    Please note: A registration fee as well as a deposit is payable upon registration. No cash will be taken at the Campus. A tailor made deposit slip must be obtained from the Campus. It is important that the registration number as provided by the Campus should appear on the deposit slip as reference number. Students will only be registered upon proof of payment.

    Proof of payment should be handed in at the Campus.

    All payments must be deposited into the bank account of the College at ABSA BANK. The outstanding balance must be paid in full before the commencement of the National examinations.

    All students must submit or have the following available on registration:

    • An original / a certified copy of the latest school report / Senior Certificate or highest certificate or results.
    • An original / a certified copy of the identity document / affidavit and photograph in case of no/lost identity document / birth certificate.
    • Deposit / necessary fees.
    • Accompanied by money for textbooks, kits, stationery and learning material (where applicable).
    • Preferably accompanied by a parent / guardian if under 18.
    • Proof of residential address and relevant contact details.

    Foreign Certificates

    Students must have these certificates evaluated by SAQA: Postnet Suite 248, Private Bag X06, Waterkloof 0145, or SAQA House, 1007 Arcadia Street, Hatfiled, Pretoria. Tel. 012 431 5000 or visit the website www.saqa.co.za.

    Students must have a valid study permit, until the end of the relevant study period.

    A.GENERAL
    1.This form must be completed by all students applying to BUFFALO CITY TVET COLLEGE for the first time.
    2.The application form must be signed by the applicant and the legal guardian (if applicant is younger than 18 years).
    3.It is in your own interest to ensure that this form is completed in full and that copies of all supporting documents are enclosed.
    4.If any questions are left unanswered or documents are not enclosed, or the legal undertaking is not signed by the student and/or the legal guardian, it will cause a delay as the form will be returned for completion.

    OVERVIEW OF TVET COLLEGE SECTOR

    The Department of Higher Education and Training was formally established by law in terms of the Presidential Minute No 690 of 6 July 2009 and under Proclamation No 44 of 1 July 2009, the concurrent functions under the TVET Colleges Act, 2008 were transferred to the Minister of Higher Education and Training. The Department of Higher Education & Training (DHET) comprises of Public TVET Colleges, public Universities, National Institutes for Higher Education, Trade Testing Centres, Skills Development Institutes and SETAs

    The mandate of the 50 public TVET Colleges is to steadily increase the number of students enrolled and trained in priority and critical skills areas, putting TVET Colleges at the centre of the skills development agenda of South Africa. This relates to equipping the unemployed, (specifically youth who is Not in Education, not in Employment and Training i.e. NEETs) with the requisite skills base  to overcome poverty and the dilemma of unemployment.

    The specific focus of public TVET Colleges is to address the skills shortages in SA, by offering relevant and responsive vocational and occupational programmes.

    Vocational Programmes are quality assured by Umalusi and Occupational Programmes are quality assured by the relevant SETAs until the QCTO takes over this function
