    Maluti TVET College, a multi –site Technical Vocational Education and Training provider, is located in the North Eastern Free State with its Corporate Office in Bethlehem and Central Office in Phuthaditjhaba at foot hills of the majestic Maluti Mountains.

    HISTORY OF THE COLLEGE

    • Maluti Technical Vocational Education and Training College was established on the 1st of September 2002.
    • Maluti TVET College is a Technical Vocational Education & Training Institution operating under the auspices of the Department of Higher Education and Training. The College is accredited by Umalusi and several Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs)
    • Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Free State Department of Education (FSDoE) merged the former Colleges of Education (Bonamelo, Sefikeng ) and Technical Colleges (Itemoheleng, Bethlehem, Kwetlisong and Lere la Tshepe) to form one Maluti Technical Vocational Education & Training College.

    NATIONAL CERTIFICATE [VOCATIONAL]

    What is National Certificate (Vocational)

    National Certificate (Vocational) is a new qualification offered at levels 2, 3 and 4 of the National Qualifications Framework (NQF). The National Certificate Vocational is designed to provide both the theory and practice. The practical component of study may be offered in a real workplace environment or in a simulated workplace environment.

    It provides students with an opportunity to experience work situations during the period of study. The qualification also provides an opportunity to enter higher education studies [University or University of Technology]

    CURRICULUM
    • Each NCV programme has total of 7subjects per NQF level.
    • 3 of these are called fundamentals subjects (compulsory).
    • The fundamentals subjects are:
      •    English
      •    Life Orientation
      •    Mathematics [Information Technology & Computer Science, Electrical Infrastructure Construction, Engineering & Related Design, Civil Engineering and Building Construction, Finance & Accounting]; or Mathematical Literacy.
    • Other 4 subjects are called vocational subjects.

    NC (V) PASS REQUIREMENTS:

    WHAT ARE THE PASS REQUIREMENTS FOR NC (V) NQF LEVEL 2 – 4?

    In order to progress to the next NQF Level students have to pass all SEVEN subjects. Once all 21 subjects have been passed successfully the NC (V) Qualification is obtained.

    The pass requirement for the four vocational subjects is 50% per subject.

    The pass requirement for fundamental subjects is as follows:

    • Life Orientation         40%
    • English 1st Additional Language 40%
    • Mathematics/Mathematical Literacy 30%

    Only one fundamental subject may be condoned for a maximum of 5%. No condonement for Vocational subjects. (T’s & C’s apply).

    Should the student fail, he/she may be required to repeat the failed subject to obtain valid ICASS marks.

    NC (V) POGRAMME ARTICULATIONS:

    Students who graduate with an NC (V) Level 4 certificate may be eligible to study at Universities or University of Technology. However, student must meet NC (V) Level 4 statutory requirements (Council for General and Further Education and Training) for pass for higher certificate, diploma and /or bachelor’s degree. Student can also enter into the world of work or start their own businesses.

    WHAT IS NATED [REPORT 191]

    The National Technical Diploma (NATED)/Report 191 programmes, also known as alternative post-school programmes, are available in engineering, business and utility studies and is offered a full-time or part-time basis. All National Examination are conducted in June and November of each year.

    For engineering studies trimester is enabling the successful student to accumulate three National qualifications during the course of one year. National Certificate N1-N3 engineering studies, this is the traditional apprentice career path to becoming an artisan. After completing N2, the apprentice will also be required to complete the institutional modular training. After successful completion and work-place experience the apprentice may apply for the Trade Test. After successfully completing the N6 course and a 24-month in-service training period spent in an environment relevant to the qualification the student can apply for the National Diploma in Engineering.

    For business & utility studies the N6 certificate can be converted into a National Diploma once the student has acquired 18months relevant practical experience monitored at an approved place of employment. The pass requirements is a minimum of 40% per subject. Learners need to have 80% attendance to sit for the final examination.

    CAP Test
    Registering students with the College are expected to write the CAP Test which will determine into what courses the prospective students should enrol. CAP Test is compulsory to all first entering students.

    Administrations, Registrations and Examination Fees
    The administration, registration and examination fees are dependent on the programmes of which the prospective student intends to register.

    • All programmes: Students are expected to pay a non-refundable administration fee depending on pragramme. The registration fee is paid on admission.

    Payment of Tuition Fees
    It is the responsibility of the students to find out about all the course costs for the programme the student intends to enrol for or has enrolled for. The cost of the course is the responsibility of student to pay and/or to ensure that it is paid.

    Applications for Closing Dates
    Prospective students are encouraged to check with the respective Campuses on the closing dates for applications and registrations. Please note that registration for NC (V) programmes is done in January only. The NATED programmes intake is done every semester (January and July) for Business Studies and every trimester (January, May and September) for Engineering Studies. The intake for the Occupational programmes in Mošate Hotel School is done every semester (January and July).

    Bursaries
    Department of Higher Education and Training has FET College Bursary Scheme aimed to assist students enrolled or intending to enrol at the FET College for the National Certificate (Vocational) and Nated programmes in aiding those students that are unable to fund their studies.
    Furthermore, the College has the Merit Bursaries granted in accordance with set criteria designed for the students enrolled.
    Please note that the above bursaries are allocated in accordance to set criteria. The closing date for the applications for bursaries can be checked with Campuses at the Wellness offices. Application forms are obtainable at the Wellness offices located at Campuses.

    For entry into the National Certificate (VOCATIONAL) at NQF Level 2 you are required to have:

    • A year-end school report for Grades 11 or 12 certificate; or

    • An approved bridging program designed for the specific purpose to access NQF Level 2; or
    • A Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) assessment to meet the basic requirements for access
      to NQF Level 2
    • Grade 9 and 10 will be considered only in exceptional cases.

    Gert Sibande TVET College has five Campuses namely Ermelo, Evander, Sibanesetfu, Standerton and Balfour Campus. 

    Gert Sibande College is a Technical  Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Institution, situated in Mpumalanga, South Africa. The college offers nationally certified training programs that are unit standard based and SAQA approved. Qualified and competent staff is available to give relevant education and training in Educational Programs which aim to enable learners to lead productive lives and make meaningful contributions to their community and the Nation as a whole. Qualified moderators and assessors give training in line with Department Of Education’s directive to implement Outcomes Based Education through eLearning methodology in order to service on site learners as well as distance learners.

    World class standards and well utilized computer and practicum rooms ensure that learners receive practical training. The curriculum develops the learner to his/her full potential. Business and Engineering theory is supplemented with practical training in line with standards from industry.2007 will see the implementation of a new National Certificate (Vocational) which will be offered by GSC. It will replace the current existing N1 to N3 with courses to empower learners with skills to be employed to alleviate poverty and unemployment. Subjects may then be chosen from a vocational program to provide the learner with high levels of specialization in that specific field. GS College provides learners and employers with learning opportunities suited to their relevant needs.

    How to apply

     

    • Enroll for your chosen NC(V) programme.
    • Obtain an application form during induction.
    • Complete the form and return it to the campus. Ensure that you submit your form BEFORE THE CLOSING DATE and provide ALLrequested supporting documentation.
    • Qualifying applications will them be submitted to the Mnambithi TVET College Bursary Committee for consideration. Bursaries will be awarded based on financial need and academic performance within the confines of the funds allocated to the College by the Department of Higher Education & Training.
    • IMPORTANT: Students enrolling for NC(V) programmes are required to pay 25% of their fees on registration. However, students should ensure that they have the means to pay the full study and related fees for their programme, according to college requirements and deadlines, and not rely on receiving a bursary as bursary funds are limited, and are awarded according to strict pre-determined criteria. Students who do not receive bursaries will be liable for their own outstanding student accounts.

    • Students not qualifying for a bursary must deposit R510
    • Students not qualifying for a bursary must complete and sign a student fee contract (person responsible for payment of the tuition fees)
    • Students qualifying for a bursary must have a provisional bursary acceptance letter
