The Admissions office at the University of Zululand is responsible for:
Assisting faculties in meeting their enrolment targets by admitting applicants who have the ability to succeed at the University. In addition to this, the office provides admission and academic programme advice to all prospective applicants as well as parents who want their children to study at UNIZULU;
Welcoming all first time entry applicants to the University;
Assisting faculties in meeting their enrolment targets by admitting applicants who have the ability to succeed at the University;

Assisting applicants with application forms and booklets with information on academic programmes, requirements and duration of the academic programme. It is very important that applicants observe these requirements before they apply to study at the University of Zululand. Application forms are also accessible from the Central Applications Office (CAO) in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. Prospective applicants are advised to submit the forms to the CAO or the Kwa-Dlangezwa or Richards Bay Campus Admissions offices with the relevant documents and proof of payment for their application.
The University of Zululand is compelled to ensure that government’s regulations are implemented and complied with, in terms of the international student’s documentation. Therefore, all international students are urged to be in possession of valid documents before registering with the University.
In terms of the Immigration Act, Foreign students must provide the following documents:
Valid passport
Study permit for UZ
SAQA verification certificate
Proof of financial means (bank statements, bursaries, cash available/traveller’s cheque to cover envisaged living expenses during the sojourn in the Republic and to pay tuition fees)
You must make arrangements for adequate medical insurance cover while studying in the Republic of South Africa before registration
It is strongly advised that foreign students approach the South African Embassy in their home countries for more information or requirements before they come to the Republic of South Africa to study. Alternatively, applicants may visit the Department of Home Affairs at www.dha.gov.za
Kindly note in terms of the South African Immigration Act, 2002, its amendment Act 2004 and 2014 the Registrar of UNIZULU will:
Provide proof of registration as contemplated in the relevant legislation within 60 days of registration; or
– In the event of a failure to register by the closing date, provide the Director General with a notification of failure to register within 7 days of the closing date of registration
– within 30 days of de-registration, notify the Director-General that the applicant is no longer registered with UNIZULU; and
– within 30 days of completion of studies, notify the Director-General when the applicant has completed his or her studies or requires to extend such period of study

Thuto Bophelo Nursing School Program Entrance Requirements and Application Instructions
Admission to the Nursing program is competitive. There are program entrance requirements that must be completed by the application deadline. Approximately 50 students will be accepted to the Nursing program each fall, based on clinical site availability.
Program Entrance Requirements
Proof of graduation from high school or a high school equivalency diploma (formerly known as GED).
Completion of Algebra, Biology and Chemistry per description below by the application deadline of January 10. Students may fulfill these requirements by completing high school courses (taken within five years post graduation i.e. if you graduated in 2015 or later you can use high school courses for fall 2026 entrance), college courses* or a combination of both. The most recent class grade will be used to fulfill the program entrance requirements. In addition, a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 (85%) is required. The most recent transcript will be used to determine the cumulative GPA.
TEAS Test taken within two years of the application date of January 10, 2026. The TEAS test can only be taken twice in a twelve-month period. A repeat attempt may not be earlier than 45 days. Test attempts at other testing sites will count as an attempt. Scores of second attempt prior to 45 days will not be accepted. FM requires a TEAS minimum score at the proficient level in order to be admitted into the program. If you do not meet the TEAS cut score, you must retake the entire TEAS test.
IMPORTANT: Due to limitations on the number of students per intake, we can not guarantee a space immediately after the test is written.

Future Nurses Nursing School Application 2026/2027
MINIMUM ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
• Students who register for this qualification should have any of the following:
• Access to this qualification is National Senior Certificate or an equivalent qualification at exit level 4
• Grade 12 Certificate or National Senior Certificate with the appropriate selection of subjects including:
o English
o Mathematic / Mathematical Literacy
o Life Science / Biology
LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE
The following is a recommendation:
• Communication (English) level 4 or 3
• Mathematics / Mathematical literacy level 4 or 3
• Life Sciences level/Biology Level 4 or3
DURATION OF THE COURSE:
The duration of the programme is 1 (one ) academic year of at least 44 weeks full time study.
The course consists of theory and practical work.
Medium of tuition is in English
COURSE OF STUDY:
All theory is offered at the Academy:
• Nursing History and Ethics
• Basic Nursing Care
• Elementary Nutrition
• First Aid
• Anatomy and Physiology
• Introduction to Comprehensive Health Care
Theoretical examinations are conducted by the South African Nursing Council at the end of each study year. Practical examinations (clinical) are conducted by Future Nurses Nursing School at the end of the year.
Successful learners can register at the South African Nursing Council as an Auxiliary Nurse.
